Harvest 2.0, Advanced Social Analytics

Today Telligent is making a big announcement with the release of Harvest Reporting Server 2.0. As the program manager (PM) for this product, today marks a big sigh of relief and the call for a large margarita to celebrate! I think the rest of the development team would agree that it has been a great ride and worth the sweat and tears we put into this product. As a PM, there are times in my career where I release things and move on, but this is truly one of the moments where I am digging the product and love what I see.

Harvest Reporting Server 2.0 is Telligent’s social analytics application. What is that? I'm glad you asked. Social analytics goes beyond your traditional Web metrics and helps provide depth to your community by understanding patterns, behaviors, trends and tonalities. It helps bring life to your numbers. Knowing how many visitors you had in your community is not enough anymore. People want to know who they were, what they were wearing, their favorite color, etc. While Harvest isn’t that extensible, we definitely help bring depth to your online world.

Here's a screen shot of the new dashboard:

Harvest Reporting Server 2.0 Product Details:

1. Comes Loaded! Harvest comes with over 100 default reports out of the box

2. Custom Reporting Package: The ability to create reports specific to your business needs, making the number of reporting possibilities higher than I can count

3. Sentiment Detection: The ability to parse conversations and determine the overall positive/negative tonality

4. User Types: Or as I call it “population” breakdown, is the ability to bucket users based on their community activity (answerer, asker, etc.)

5. Forecasting: Harvest takes past information, analyzes it, and then uses this data to predict future behavior for your site and community

6. Where to next? Harvest is like a never-ending gobstopper. Most reports enable you to drill down for further details or jump to another similar report. The possibilities are endless

7. Milestones: The ability to track important dates that have or will impact your community. This enables you to account for spikes or drops in numbers

8. Harvest tabs: Harvest is sectioned by tabs, including the Dashboard, Activity, Content, Groups Moderation, Sentiment and the Users tabs

9. Areas Covered: Users, sentiment, blogs, forums, wikis, media, comments, conversations . . . and the list goes on

10. Compatibility: Supports Community Server 2007 and later version. Harvest will report on data as far back as your community dates back

After today, I am busy thinking about the next version of Harvest and would be happy to get your feedback and requests. I love to hear from users. Email me at jcarter@telligent.com.

Thanks, and happy Harvesting!
